Quick help: your mask is aligned perfectly to your real cockpit, but the virtual cockpit doesn't match it in size. The fix isn't the mask - it's your VR seat.
🔧 The symptom
Your mask is aligned perfectly to your real cockpit - your hardware sits
exactly where the passthrough shows it. The trouble is the virtual cockpit: it
doesn't line up. The centre matches, yet the edges drift, because the virtual panel is a bit
bigger or smaller than your physical one. That's a proportion
mismatch, and no amount of mask-nudging fixes it - the mask is already right. The thing that's the
wrong size is the virtual cockpit.
Here's the key idea: you can't resize the virtual cockpit - its dimensions are
baked into the aircraft model. But you can change how big it looks by
changing how far your VR seat sits from it. Move your seat
closer and the whole virtual cockpit grows to fill your view; move it
back and it shrinks. So you don't scale the cockpit - you scale yourself
into it until it matches your real cockpit.

Move your seat, not the mask
🥽 In VR
Watch what happens when the virtual cockpit is too small for your mask: slide
the VR seat forward, and the virtual cockpit grows until its edges meet the mask
frame - proportions matched. (Too big? Same trick in reverse: move the seat
back.) Press Play, and drag to orbit the view:
3D - drag to rotate · Ctrl+scroll to zoom

Closer = bigger. The virtual cockpit (grey) starts too small for
your mask (the teal frame = your real cockpit). Sliding the
VR seat forward grows the virtual cockpit until it fills the frame. Press Play;
drag to rotate the 3D view.
💡 Which way? Virtual cockpit smaller than your mask →
seat forward (closer). Virtual cockpit bigger than your mask →
seat back. Nudge in small steps and re-check against your real panel edges.

How to move the seat in your sim
🥽 In VR
Every sim lets you move the pilot's eye point and save it. Recenter your VR view first (so your
head is at the seat), then nudge forward/back and lock it in:
DCS World
Move & save the cockpit view
Sit properly and recenter (reset the cockpit camera with
RCtrl+RShift+Num 5, or your bound VR-recenter key).
Move your head forward / back with the 6DoF cockpit-camera keys:
forward = RCtrl+RShift+Num *,
back = RCtrl+RShift+Num /
(up/down/left/right = RCtrl+RShift+Num 8/2/4/6).
Too small → forward, too big → back.
Lock it in for the aircraft with Save Cockpit Angle
(RAlt+Num 0). First enable
User Snap-View Saving under Options → Misc - it's off by default,
and without it RAlt+Num 0 won't save.
Translate the cockpit view forward / back:
forward = Shift+W, back = Shift+S
(left/right = Shift+A / Shift+D).
Too small → forward, too big → back.
Heads-up: MSFS 2024 has no reliable way to permanently save a
VR eye position yet (the camera files are locked), so you re-nudge with
Shift+W/S each session. Quick routine: recenter, then nudge to
your spot.
🎥 Optional - world scale via IPD. If a seat move alone isn't enough, your
headset/software IPD is a second lever: a smaller IPD setting
makes the whole virtual world (cockpit included) look bigger, a
larger IPD makes it look smaller. It's global - it rescales
everything, not just the cockpit - so change it in small steps and treat it as fine
adjustment on top of the seat move.
